Party Boy Costumes

Parent contacts for party boys: Sayoko Bolander, 759-1287 (home) or 574-5820 (cell), and Debi Sonne, 753-1632.

You need to supply:
1. white tights that completely cover the foot
2. black ballet shoes
3. white long-sleeved turtleneck
Dancers from former years have donated both turtlenecks and ballet shoes. Ask if you want to borrow one or both.

Rest of costume is provided:
vest
neckpiece
black knee-length pants

There is a costume fee of $25 per child that covers purchase, repair, and cleaning of the costumes. Make check payable to Hanneke Lohse, and give it to Debi or Sayoko (or let them know, if you pay through a different role).

Dressing for the performance:
Girls' hair should be smoothed back with gel in front and pulled into a bun at the back of the head. Use a hairnet on the bun to make sure it doesn't come loose during the dancing. If you want help with the hair from the backstage parents, arrive early for the performance and bring your daughter's comb/brush, hair ties and hair net when you drop her off. Click here for some hair pictures and hints.
Makeup should be minimal---to the audience, the party boys shouldn't look like they're wearing any makeup. Use a bit of lipstick and blush, and possibly mascara if your child has light colored lashes, just so your child doesn't look washed-out on stage.
NO JEWELRY. Remove watches, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings. Even small metal earrings glitter distractingly in the stage lights. Worse, if an earring should fall out onstage, a pointe dancer could injure herself by slipping on one of the pieces.
Some parents bring food that all the children can share backstage, mainly healthful snacks like bagels or fresh fruits and vegetables. If you want to send something, either for your child or to share, make sure to avoid anything that stains. Chocolate, nuts, and anything sugar-coated are absolutely not allowed: chocolate stains, some of the dancers are very allergic to tree nuts, and sugar crystals can stick to costumes and glitter.
Party boys are on stage at the beginning of the first act and often do a quick review of their dance onstage during the half-hour before showtime. They cannot be late! Please have your child at the theater one hour before the performance time. Replacements may be called in for any dancers who have not arrived by 45 minutes before show time.
If your child is sick the day of the performance, please contact Sayoko or Debi as soon as possible.
